Book a Personalised Wellness ReadingA mind, body and spirit tarot spread deals three cards and reads each one in a fixed position: the first for your body, the second for your mind, the third for your sense of meaning.
It tells you which of the three you have been ignoring. It does not tell you what is wrong with you, and it cannot say anything about your health.
The Short Answer
- Three cards, three fixed positions: Body, Mind, Spirit. Each card is read in the position it lands in.
- The three cards are dealt at random from a full 78-card deck. Reversals are included and are less common than upright cards.
- There is no score, no verdict and no rating. A number out of ten would be invented, because a card has no number in it.
- No card here names an illness, a diagnosis, a recovery, a treatment or a supplement. If you want a reading built around a physical symptom, the free health tarot reading is the one to use, and a doctor is better than either.
- The point of the spread is the comparison. Which of the three positions do you flinch at?
How the mind, body and spirit spread works
Three cards, dealt in order into three positions.
Position | What it asks | What it cannot do |
1. Body | What have you been asking your body to absorb lately? | Name a condition, predict an illness, or tell you whether you are well |
2. Mind | What is taking up the most room in your head? | Diagnose anxiety or depression, or replace a therapist |
3. Spirit | What has gone quiet — meaning, purpose, the part of life that is yours? | Tell you your purpose, or promise you will find it |
The three cards come off a shuffled 78-card deck, upright or reversed. Nothing you type is stored and nothing is sent anywhere.
Read them as a set rather than one at a time. Three cards that all point the same way tell you less than three that disagree — the disagreement is where the useful question sits.
Why there is no wellness score
This tool used to print three bars out of ten, one per position, labelled as a wellness score. It has been removed, and it is worth saying why, because most free wellness tarot tools still have one.
The number was not a measurement of anything. Each card in the deck carried a fixed value, and a reversal subtracted three from it. Draw a reversed Three of Swords in the first position and the page told you “Body 1/10”. The same card drawn upright scored 4. Nothing about you entered the calculation — not a symptom, not a sleep hour, not an answer to a question. The page then told readers to act on the lowest bar: “notice which pillar scored lowest, that is where your attention is most urgently needed.”
Across a simulation of 20,000 draws, 44.5% of readings produced at least one bar at or below 3 out of 10. That is a scary-looking number about someone’s body, handed to them by a shuffle.
A card can give you a theme to look at. It cannot grade you.
What the cards will and will not say
Every card in this deck has its own text for each of the three positions. Those texts were rewritten in November 2026 against a single rule:
A card may name a theme. It may never name a condition, a recovery or a treatment.
So the Four of Swords in the Body position now asks what you are refusing to stop doing. It no longer tells you that “physical rest is non-negotiable right now” or that your body “demands quiet recovery”. The Knight of Swords no longer says “book the appointment, start the treatment, begin the protocol — now.” The Star no longer tells you your body is “regenerating, recovering, restoring its natural vitality”, because a shuffled card has no way of knowing that and the sentence is cruel to anyone who is actually unwell.
What you will still get is a prompt. The Tower in the Body position asks which part of your routine is brittle. The Nine of Swords in the Mind position asks what you have been carrying at 3 a.m. You decide whether it fits.
Not a medical or psychological opinion
This reading is a self-reflection tool. It is not medical or psychological advice, it does not diagnose anything, and it is not a substitute for a doctor, a psychiatrist or a therapist.
If something is happening in your body, see a doctor rather than a deck. In India, the national emergency number is 112. For mental health support, Tele-MANAS is free, confidential and open 24×7 on 14416 (or 1-800-891-4416), in around 20 languages.
Which free reading do you actually want?
Four TWL tools use three or four cards and people mix them up.
If you are asking | Use | Cards |
“Which part of me needs attention?” | This page | 3 — Body, Mind, Spirit |
“What is going on with a symptom, and should I worry?” | 4 — physical, mental, what to watch, what to do
“How did this situation get here and where is it heading?” | 3 — past, present, future
“Yes or no, should I do it?” | 1 — with the odds stated |
How to get something usable out of it
- Pick one thing to look at before you draw. Not a list. “What am I not dealing with?” works. “Will my back pain go away?” does not, and no card should answer it.
- Read the position you want to skip. In practice people read the Body card carefully, nod at the Mind card, and scroll past Spirit. The one you skim is usually the one worth sitting with.
- Take one action this week, not three. Pick the smallest real thing: an appointment you have been postponing, one evening without your phone, one conversation.
- Use it as a repeat check-in, not a verdict. Monthly tells you more than daily. If you want a daily habit, the free daily tarot reading is built for that.
- Do not come back for a different answer. Re-drawing until a card agrees with you is the most common way people waste a reading.
When a session is different from this page
This tool is automated and free. It deals three random cards and prints text that was written for each card in advance. Nobody reads it.
A session is a conversation. You get to say “that is not it” and be asked something else, which is the part no tool does.
A session with Lavanya runs on what you bring, not on what the deck dealt.
Everything else free sits on the all the free tarot readings page.
FAQ’s
Is a mind body spirit tarot spread the same as a past, present, future spread?
No. Both use three cards, but the positions mean different things. Past-present-future reads one situation across time. Mind-body-spirit reads you across three areas at one moment. For the first, use the free 3-card tarot reading.
Which order do the cards go in?
On this page: first card Body, second Mind, third Spirit. Some readers deal Mind first. The order only matters in that you fix it before you draw, so you are not deciding after the fact which card suits which position.
Can a tarot card tell me if I am ill?
No. Nothing in a shuffled deck knows anything about your body. This tool does not name conditions, and if something is going on physically, see a doctor. In an emergency in India, call 112.
Do I choose the cards, or does the page?
The page deals them at random from all 78. Earlier versions of this tool showed a fan of cards to tap, which made no difference to what you got, so the claim has been removed rather than left standing.
Why are reversed cards less common than upright ones?
Because the tool is set that way, at roughly three in ten. A physical deck gives you closer to half, depending on how it is shuffled. Reversals are not bad cards; they usually read as the same theme, turned inward or stalled.
